The Association Employees Union (AEU) wholeheartedly condemns the ongoing ICE raids and calls for the agency's abolition. AEU condemns the Trump administration’s broader campaign of state violence that flagrantly violates constitutional protections and democratic checks and balances.
These fascist attacks — orchestrated by federal agencies under the guise of law enforcement — are acts of terror against immigrant communities, many of whom are the very working people we are committed to serving and defending. The militarization of immigration enforcement and the targeting of families, often without due process, reflects a dangerous abuse of federal power and a gross betrayal of American legal principles.
As unionists, we stand with the millions of immigrant workers and families who make California and this nation stronger. These acts directly affect the members and communities we serve. AEU stands unequivocally in solidarity with them, and with all working people being criminalized and scapegoated by this administration.
We also reject the Trump administration’s broader authoritarian tactics: the undermining of judicial independence; the violation of sanctuary policies; and the use of federal agents against peaceful protestors. These actions are not only unlawful — they are corrosive to the foundation of democracy and collective power.
AEU calls on elected leaders across California and the nation to resist these abuses and defend the rule of law. We urge the broader labor movement to remain vigilant and united in the face of rising state repression. As history has shown, when the state targets one group, it sets a precedent to target us all.
An injury to one is an injury to all. We will not be silent.
